AUCHENTOSHAN ARCHIVE
Auchentoshan Distillery’s position as a cherished landmark on the Glasgow horizon dates back to the time it was granted its distillery license in 1823.
Throughout its long history, Auchentoshan Distillery, one of only a few remaining Lowland Malt Whisky Distilleries, has witnessed the development of Glasgow from its early industrial days, that saw its shipbuilding supremacy famed the world over, through to the modern and cosmopolitan Glasgow seen today.
Despite being surrounded by the growth and development of a great city, Auchentoshan Distillery has changed little. Nestled at the foot of the Old Kilpatrick Hills, near the proud River Clyde, Auchentoshan has quietly observed the growth of Glasgow, and the vital Clyde shipping lane carrying a daily procession of maritime traffic, from the tall sailing ships and cargo steamers, to occasional grand ocean-going liners pass up and down river.
Auchentoshan Distillery’s unique triple distilling process, whereby the spirit is distilled three times as opposed to twice as elsewhere in Scotland, produces a malt whisky refined and delicate in character, whose approachable style appeals to all - from first time malt drinkers through to malt connoisseurs. |

AUCHENTOSHAN 1962 Burnished copper in colour, the body is light to medium. Wonderful complexity on the nose with honey, lemon, orange peel and creamy vanilla with light almond and leafy notes. The palate is awash with crushed vanilla and zesty fruitiness overlaid with a light raisin flavour. The finish is light and mild with a satisfying creaminess complemented by a mild fruitiness and just a hint of almond.

AUCHENTOSHAN 1973 An incredibly rich and complex example of Auchentoshan: deep dark mahogany in colour, with zesty aromas of lemon, tangerine and spiced gingerbread sweetness on the nose. The flavour is fabulous, initially sweet rasins on the palate and deliciously nutty and creamy. The finish is wonderfully long and smooth. Adding a small amount of mineral water opens up the amazing flavours.
